Wedding at Soda Rock Winery in Healdsburg, California.
Clarisse and Colin are two New York Natives who met in Boston and moved 3,000 miles across country to start their lives together in California.
“Our vision for our wedding day was to really make it ours. We wanted to include a ton of fun, personal touches, from the logo to our invitations where we told the "story of us" and all the little DIY projects in between. It was all just a mix of boho touches, a lot of floral elements and we wanted it to be a relaxed vibe where we were just so happy to have all of our friends and family from different walks of life in the same place!”
The Story Behind the Logo
I'm a designer! My husband and I were best friends for three years before we started dating and I always called him "Moondawg" since his last name is Mooney. So when we got engaged I decided we would be The Moondawgz (always with a z for flair) and that I'd make a fun logo for it. I went with a wolf because they're dogs that howl at the moon and the ears make an M. The little moon on the forehead of the dog is the actual moon phase on the night of our wedding - October 27, 2018!
“ Colin is a doctor so our temporary tattoo station had an anatomical heart and some pizza tattoos because they're my favorite food and we're both from NY. "
“My mom pressed these flowers from my grandpa's garden in New York, we used them in the table number frames so that we had a little bit of home there for our wedding in California.”
We met at freshmen orientation at Boston University so we had Sam Adams in our bar. We also had some It's-It's as a nod to our new life in the Bay Area.
Favorite Moment of the Evening
“Our last song. My husband is a huge Red Sox fan and as a nod to our roots where we met in Boston we played "Sweet Caroline" as our last song. All our friends and family made this big circle on the dance floor holding hands or arms wrapped around shoulders when someone pushed my husband and I into the center. We just danced and high fived everyone and sang at the top of our lungs and it was just such a wonderful way to feel all of the love at the end of the night. It was really magical.”
Advice to Future Brides
“Pick vendors you trust. I'm a really good gut check person and at the end of every phone call or meeting with a potential vendor, if I didn't get good vibes from the person we talked to – even if they were the more affordable choice – we just knew they weren't going to be the one to make our day great. Truly, by the time I woke up and started to get ready on the day I wasn't worried at all because I knew we had picked good people who were looking out for us.. all we had to do was show up!”
