C+S Wedding at The Lawley Ranch - Woodland Ca

Wedding at The Lawley Ranch in Woodland, Ca.

Okay, So I am ‘S’ and Chris, my husband is the ‘C’ and this blog is about our wedding back in 2016!

We had just been on a road trip across the U.S. for music festival before we got engaged and our wedding was definitely inspired by our travels to Nashville and New Orleans. We wanted two things, a Blues Band and BBQ. Other than that we weren’t too picky on the details. We chose The Lawley Ranch to be the place we had our wedding at because the venue had the rustic, eclectic, laid back feel we were looking for. The grounds had so much charm that we didn’t have to put a lot of money into decor, which was perfect because we didn’t have a huge budget to work with.

I am in love with Dahlias and it just so happens that Summer through Fall the Farmers Markets all over Sacramento have the most gorgeous Dahlias. My mom and one of my bridesmaids went to the market on their way to the venue and picked up all the flowers we needed. They even arranged the flowers into bouquets for us. All of our bouquets plus the flowers for the centerpieces and decor around the venue came out to only $100.

We are kind of obsessed with the Beatles and one night went out to see the Friends! a Beatles Tribute Band. We already knew all the songs during our ceremony were going to be Beatles Songs and my husbands best man who was with us at the time convinced us we needed to have them at the wedding. I am so glad we did, they made the day so special. In the dressing room before the ceremony I could hear the guests clapping and requesting songs for them to play and it warmed my heart so much.

Our parents walked out to In My Life

Our friends walked out to Get By With a Little Help From My Friends

I walked down to the Here Comes The Sun

During the ceremony they played When I’m 64

At the end we walked out to All You Need Is Love which is pretty much our life anthem.

When I told my mom I wanted cupcakes she said “If I would’ve had cupcakes at my wedding it would have been the laughing stock” All I can say is thank goodness big wedding cakes aren’t all the rage anymore. My good friend Andrea made the small cake to cut and the cupcakes. Continuing with the southern inspiration the cupcakes were Red Velvet and Lemon. For the cake I surprised Chris and had it made with Funfetti, which is his favorite.

All of the decor came from moms vintage thrift store Dianna’s Estate Liquidations and The Antique Fair Under The Freeway.

Penny’s debut was at our wedding. If it wasn’t for our photographer Matt Wescott Penny wouldn’t even be around. Matt did a giveaway for his photography package and we were the winners of it! I was so stoked because winning a photographer opened up room in our budget to have a photo booth. Chris’ sister had just gotten married and the photo booth was so much fun, I really wanted one but it had been out of the budget. A few days after winning the contest I went to the Sacramento Bridal Showcase at Cal Expo and saw ‘Lucy’ the vintage trailer photo booth and fell in love but she was booked for our date already, I was so bummed.

If my mom had a catch phrase it would be “You can just make that yourself” and that’s exactly what she said to me when I was bummed about not being able to have Lucy at our wedding. You could say I am a serial entrepreneur so this idea of just building one our self didn’t seem impossible to me. I came home to Chris with this idea and it took a little convincing but he agreed and we spent 9 months crafting a vintage camper photo booth of our own to debut at our wedding.

Thank you to all our friends and family and the vendors that made this day possible!
